Party On!
Your New Year’s Eve bash was a big hit, but now it’s time to store the décor until next December 31. But don’t just cram it back in your storage closet, otherwise when it’s time to pull out your heart-shaped candles for Valentine’s Day you’ll have to fumble through the party hats and “Happy New Year!” platter first. Make it easy on yourself by organizing your holiday supplies using one of these marvelous methods:
- Sort all of the stuff by occasion. Put each holiday’s stash into a separate box, and label it accordingly. Then take the boxes to the basement, attic, or wherever else you keep things that only get used once a year.
- Get rid of the goods that are appropriate only for specific occasions, and replace them with things in seasonal colors that you can use for many months of the year. For instance, instead of placemats and napkins with hearts and roses all over them, get versions in a range of reds and metallics. They’ll look just as festive at your February 14 dinner as they will at a December 14 gathering. Your guests won’t know the difference, and you’ll free up lots of space.
