While your objective is to make sure your lawn is as beautiful as it can be, mine is to help you do it while not draining your time or pocketbook. Here's what you should do:
Apply my Spring Wake-Up Tonic just as your grass is waking up. It’ll really help get it off on the right root. To make this tonic, mix 50 lbs. of pelletized lime, 50 lbs. of pelletized gypsum, 2 lbs. of Epsom salts, and 5 lbs. of bone meal in a wheelbarrow. Apply this mixture to your lawn with your handheld spreader.
Follow up with a dose of my Get-Up-And-Grow Mix: Mix 1 cup of Plant Shampoo, 1 cup of ammonia, 1 cup of regular cola (not diet), and 4 tbsp. of instant tea granules in your 20 gallon hose-end sprayer, and apply to the point of run-off. That’ll really get your lawn up off its grass!
Use a pre-emergent herbicide to control weeds, like crabgrass, before they sprout. For broadleaf perennial weeds, use a post-emergent weed killer, or try a dose of my Wild Weed Wipeout Tonic: Mix 1 tbsp. of vinegar, 1 tbsp. of Plant Shampoo, 1 tbsp. of gin, and 1 qt. of warm water in a bucket and pour it into a handheld sprayer. Drench each weed to the point of run-off, taking care not to get any spray on the surrounding plants. For particularly stubborn weeds, use apple cider vinegar instead of white vinegar.
Following these tips will help get your lawn off to a running start. And that means greener, thicker, healthier grass this summer. So let’s get to it!
